Summer Nostalgia
I'm considering making a 2008 calendar for myself out of some of my own photos (yeah, it's narcissistic, so sue me). So I've been looking through my Flickr photostream from the very beginning, trying to pick out some pictures. And it is making me ridiculously nostalgic for the summer.
The summer of 2007 has got to have been one of the best summers of my life. I can't wait for winter to be over. In the meantime, I'm trying to shake off this malaise and get back to the gym so I can stay in shape so I can get out there enjoy the warm weather as much as possible as soon as it begins.

If you're so keen on warm weather, have you ever considered not living in, say, MINNESOTA???

I think you deserve a calendar, made up of all summer shots if you want them! Lovely colors!

By the way, I could so go for some watermelon right about now.

Minnesota's worth the pain if you know how beautiful it is during the warmer months. Flowers in the spring and leaves in the fall. I love July and August here most of all, with all the festivals and gatherings during those months that really help you get out and enjoy it. Something I hope to do a bit more of in 2008.

What Blogless Mike said. I do love living here, for lots of reasons. And even if I do get nostalgic for summer, I love having the all extremes here, and the changing seasons.
Also, I've been thinking about what you wrote, Erik, even though I think you were being sort of facetious. I'm not sure it's the warmth of the summer months that I miss. What I miss is the longer days and the feeling like I can actually get out and do things. I'm actually thinking about taking up some kind of outdoor winter activity for this reason.

One thing I noticed while living in Denmark (which is where all you Scandi-sotans are descended from) was the vigorous passion with which the Danes embraced summer and warm weather. A rare commodity is a precious one.
